Film Developing with Auto Scans
Auto Scans (C-41 Colour, 35mm only) are unedited scans. We develop your film and you'll receive the scans exactly as produced automatically with default settings with no operator adjustments. No per-frame corrections, no rotation, and no manual dust spotting.
Only select this if you plan to edit images yourself. Not available for disposables, half-frame or panoramic formats (choose Hand-finished instead).
Scan sizes and file types (35mm)
(Dimensions below are based on a full frame negative, panoramic and half frame formats are proportionally larger/smaller.)
Medium JPEG
3,130 × 2,175 px
Typical file size: ~5 MB per image
A great everyday option for sharing online and general use. Medium scans are typically sufficient for prints up to 12 × 8 inches (depending on the image and how closely you view the print).
High JPEG (recommended)
6,744 × 4,492 px
Typical file size: ~20 MB per image
Our High scans extract the maximum detail from 35mm film, with smoother tonal transitions and finer texture. If you plan to print larger, crop, or simply want the best-looking files with minimal fuss, this is the option we recommend.
High 16-bit TIFF (Pro)
6,744 × 4,492 px
Typical file size: ~90 MB per image
Our Noritsu HS-1800 produces true 16-bit TIFF files for maximum editing headroom.
This is ideal if you plan to do heavier colour grading, refine skin
tones, recover highlights/shadows, or make subtle tonal adjustments
without the file “breaking apart”.
High TIFF is only available with our Hand Finished Scan product
